Centara Passikudah Resort & Spa Sri Lanka is set next to the beach at Passikudah Bay, a long stretch of coastline renowned for its calm and shallow waters, ideal for swimming and water sports. The outer bay has an extensive coral reef and there are scattered coral communities within the bay, together forming one of the best-known reef systems in the Indian Ocean. The resort, which is on the east side of the island, is 35 kilometres north of Batticaloa and five hours away from Colombo by road.

Besides relaxing on the tranquil beach you will enjoy a wide range of facilities and activities including a large swimming pool, water sports and Centara’s award-winning SPA Cenvaree, a venue of pampering excellence and well-being offering subtle holistic experiences including the ever popular Ayurvedic treatments and other therapeutic treatments for you to unwind or restore your inner balance.The resort is family-friendly, with a supervised Kids Club, Camp Safari for children aged 4 to 9, the teenagers’ own E-Zone, a children’s pool, and plenty of beach activities.

Water sports enthusiasts will enjoy kayaking and windsurfing while those who are fascinated by life below the surface will wish to explore Passikudah Bay’s own coral reef or venture out at sea to the well-known Mushroom Reef, just 15 minutes away, where at depths of 14 metres can be found a dazzling array of rock fish. A few minutes further away is White Rock, where at a depth of 16 metres can be found parrot fish, fusilier, trevally, sweetlips, emperor and bannerfish. At Marrakkala Gala, diving to depths of 20 metres will reveal schools of rainbow runners who inquisitively follow divers around the rock. There are two wreck sites within easy reach of the resort. Boiler Wreck, about 25 minutes away, is a habitat for a variety of colourful rock fish at a depth of only 9 metres, while less than an hour away is one of Sri Lanka’s most famous dive sites, the wreck of the HMS Hermes, lying at a depth of 53 metres.
