A few minutes further away is White Rock, where at a depth of 16 metres can be found parrot fish, fusilier, trevally, sweetlips, emperor and bannerfish. At Marrakkala Gala, diving to depths of 20 metres will reveal schools of rainbow runners who inquisitively follow divers around the rock. There are two wreck sites within easy reach of the resort. Boiler Wreck, about 25 minutes away, is a habitat for a variety of colourful rock fish at a depth of only 9 metres, while less than an hour away is one of Sri Lanka’s most famous dive sites, the wreck of the HMS Hermes, lying at a depth of 53 metres.
